Tasmanian Regional Arts also supports regional communities to access quality performing arts touring.
Theatre, music, dance, comedy and puppetry performances have always proven popular with regional audiences. From 2008 TRA has continued to support touring productions in collaboration with a range of performing arts companies, festivals and government agencies
From 2007 TRA changed the way that it supports performing arts touring in response to funding agency requirements. These changes see TRA operate more as a broker of tours. This change has allowed TRA to develop new partnership opportunities with organisations such as Ten Days on the Island and Tasmania Performs. Through this brokerage model, TRA now works with its partners and its branch network capacity to create partnerships with local government, community groups and local sponsors that will lead to greater local determination in regional product selection
Visual and performing artists seeking to tour through TRA are asked to contact our Access and Touring Manager, Robin Winter, on (03) 6426 2344 or email ro...@tasregionalarts.org.au
Please also contact Robin for all other touring enquiries
Having undertaken a review of operational requirements and in response to budget reductions, Tasmanian Regional Arts will be reducing our involvement in performing arts touring as of January 2013.
This decision has not been made lightly. TRA understands that regional and remote communities would like to have the same degree of access to performing arts experiences as their city based cousins.
Regional touring will continue through Tasmania Performs and shows presented by managed venues and other promoters.
TRA will continue to provide brokered support to artists seeking to tour Tasmania so TRA encourages producers and artists seeking to tour works in Tasmania to discuss their shows with TRA and to complete the Expression of Interest form.
